Daniel Thomas ‘Tommy’ Mottola (born 14 July 1949) is a music industry executive in the U.S. and co-owner of Casablanca Records label, a joint venture with Universal Music Group, is the former husband of the singer Mariah and Thalia’s agency husband. He headed Sony Music Entertainment, parent of the Columbia label, for nearly 15 years. Tommy Mottola is a well-known businessman, famous for being the head of Sony America Corp.
In addition to his experience in managing music outfits, Mottola is known as a mentor and former talent manager. His most famous protected were Hall and Oates, Carly Simon, John Mellencamp, Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, Diana Ross, and Taylor Dayne in the 70’s and 80’s, Mariah (his second wife) agencies in the 1990s and Jennifer Lopez in early 2000. Thalia (his third wife and a famous Mexican singer) and Tommy have celebrated jobs in the birth of consultants their first child together, Sabrina Sakae.
Mottola was born in the Bronx, New York. He attended Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York, graduated in 1967. He briefly human resources attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York before the defection. Mottola had aspirations management jobs of a music career and released by CBS Records, but his career was of short duration.
Mottola started Champion job search Entertainment Inc., organization for managing other artists. While working at the company Chappell became the mentor of artists like Daryl Hall and John Oates. His belief in the duo make appearances took him to rest for promotions and advertising, including some of the first specialized music videos and one of the first modern “sponsored tours” for Beech-Nut’s Care Free Gum, Panasonic and Pontiac.
Hall and Oates qen honored him his song “Gino” on his 1975 self-titled album, produced by RCA, who won silver platter.
Early in the musical
He grew up within a very strict family, but part time also a music lover in general. Right from small demonstrations to play trumpet skills, not so with academic subjects.
As a young somewhat problematic, his parents decided to send him to a military school, which he used to escape regularly just to enjoy the thrill of being put back to the barracks. After countless leaks, got to admit that his family back at home, on condition of not causing more problems. Never fulfilled its side of the bargain.
His first attempts to build a career carried him through the branch of activity, from where he participated in several independent productions that never came to anything.
